“The Prince” is a political treatise written by Machiavelli. “The Twenty Years’ Crisis” is a book addressing international relations written by Edward Hallett Carr. Balance of power is the idea of enhancing national security when military capabilities are distributed equally (Carr 27). Rational action is the theory of formally modelling socio-economic behaviour. Anarchy is the region without publicly enforced government. Self- help systems are individual motivated improvements to help oneself in recovery. Security dilemma gives both strengths and weaknesses in national security which may be an advantage to the opponent. Melian dialogue in the “Thucydides’ History of Peloponnesian War” is a review of the fight between people of Melos. Morgenthau’s 6 principles are: politics is governed by laws that have their roots in human nature, signpost of political realism is defined in power, it recognizes that kind of interest varies depending on cultural and political context, it is aware of the moral significance of political action, does not identify the moral aspirations of nations with the laws that govern the universe and maintains autonomy in the political sphere (Morgenthau 5).

I agree with Machiavelli that it is better for the prince (the United States) to be parsimonious, rather than generous, concerning the text and film which deals with the changing relationship to Iran. Iran was once a strong ally to the United States, but their friendship broke during the cold war. Iran raises considerable concern to the United States with regards to nuclear weapon expertise and proliferation (Carr 24). It is one of the countries seeking to have nuclear weapons capability. In addition, the Iranian officials have denied the existence of nuclear weapons though there is enough evidence of the existence. Although the U.S. and Iran have never been locked in war there is also a heated hatred and the officials consider Iran to be a “rogue state”. Iran has the balance of power and learnt the United States security systems when they were allies and, therefore, may take advantage of the U.S. and overpower it.
